I'm like some mad tutorial making machine at the moment. Must be something in the vodk..er water.
You will find a new tutorial on the MovieClip API now online.
I had to write it because the examples given in the actioncript dictionary were, quite frankly, shoddy - missing functions and typos all over the place. I hope this proves a useful clarification of basic MCL usage.

As always, you can find my other tutorials in the 'work' section of this site.

I knocked this together this evening - it's an accordian order-form. It's not completely finished yet, but I thought it was worth posting up somewhere for the time being. There's no preloader at the moment (it's about 65Kb) but there's some basic functionality going on. I've come accross some buggy behaviour too (with the component obviously - not my code *ahem*), but hopefully nothing that won't be ironed out in the next release of the flash 7 player.

I've been busy writing a few tutorials for actonscript.org over the past 48 hours.

My contextMenu class tutorial is now finished and has been uploaded. Comments and suggestions are welcomed.

[edit] Also now uploaded is my tutorial on using external cascading style sheets in Flash, which includes a reasonably indepth look at the syntax and structure behind css.

This is a well thought out and amusing site about Emma Clarke - probably best known for her London Underground announcements.

There are now a couple of Flash 7 based files, relating to .FLV (Flash's new streaming video format) in the 'Work' section of this site.

Flash MX Professional 2004 was released yesterday.
New features include video streaming, data bound components, and easy deployment to devices such as PDAs, Mobile Phones & Pocket PCs; but perhaps most exciting of all is the new implementation of actionscript (AS2), with its ECMA standards-compliant Object Oriented Programming model.

Needless to say, new Flash 7 content will be appearing on this site as soon as I start to work my way through some of the new features.

Note: If your site does not have a cross-domain policy file, and you're loading XML, controlling loaded movies or connecting to an XMLSocket server, then visitors using Flash Player 7 to view your Flash Player 6 format .swfs will now see a security alert dialog.
As usual, Colin Moock has the solution on his site in the form of a cross-domain policy file. To create a policy file for your site, follow the steps posted here.
